Las Vegas, Nev. – “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band, established by an Act of Congress in 1798 and America’s oldest, continuously active professional musical organization, performs a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 2 in the Artemus Ham Concert Hall at UNLV. Today, “The President’s Own” is celebrated for its role at the White House and its dynamic public performances. “The President’s Own” encompasses the U.S. Marine Band, Marine Chamber Orchestra, and Marine Chamber Ensembles, and performs regularly at the White House and for more than 500 public performances across the nation each year.

"The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band has roughly 160 members, including: five officers, drum major and assistant drum major; roughly 130 musicians; 22 full-time professionals working in administration, library, music production, operations, public affairs, recording, stage managing, and supply; and 13 marines from the Fleet Marine Force who work with administration, 
supply, and the stage managers
The band is led by Colonel Michael Colburn who also serves as music advisor to the White House and music director of Washington’s Gridiron Club. He serves as both artistic and executive director and guides the daily operations of the band. As director, Col Colburn has attracted prominent guest conductors to the podium of “The President’s Own,” including Leonard Slatkin, José Serebrier, and renowned film composer John Williams.
