UNLV TO ANNOUNCE THE LARGEST SCHOLARSHIP DONATION IN ITS 52-YEAR HISTORY ON NOVEMBER 3

EIGHT-FIGURE GIFT WILL CREATE ENDOWMENT AIMED SOLELY AT PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS


WHEN: Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 10 a.m.

WHERE: UNLV Foundations Building (immediately off Maryland Parkway and Cottage Grove Avenue)

DETAILS: The gift is in the eight-figure range (more than $10 million). It will be the largest scholarship donation in UNLV’s 52-year history. It will be in the form of an endowment that will fund 100 annual student scholarships in perpetuity. These scholarships will include a unique community-service component that will benefit the students and organizations throughout the Las Vegas valley.

MEDIA: The formal program is expected to last no longer than 20 minutes. The following one-on-one interview opportunities will be available: 1) The lead person in the organization making the donation to UNLV, 2) UNLV President Neal Smatresk, 3) Students currently benefitting from existing scholarships (to share their experiences and comment on the importance of scholarship availability in pursuing their university education).
